Dear TLCPCP Community,

As Chair of our Board of Directors I am very pleased to announce the unanimous election of two new board members. They are Michael McLellan and Ryan Roy.

Those of you who were at last year’s Portland Gathering may remember Michael.  He is a passionate advocate and comes to us with extensive Board experience in his home of British Columbia, Canada. This includes serving on the boards of Inclusion BC, BC People First and the Centre of Inclusion and Citizenship. He is also the co-op President of Empowering Self-Advocates To Take Action (ESATTA). One area of interest for Michael is helping TLCPCP with accessibility of materials, including increased use of plain language and use of alternative formats for people with visual impairments.  Michael lives in Courtenay, BC.

Ryan describes himself as an autism advocate for people with disabilities.  He has advocacy and training experience in both schools and adult services.  He assists people who use services to learn about person centered planning and self-direction and applying that learning in their relationships with family, staff, support coordinators, educators and other professionals.  He is a Partners in Policy Making graduate who also works with  medical and social work students to understand how best to support people with disabilities. He lives with his wife and young son in Saddle Brook, NJ.

Please join me in welcoming these new board members.

Our by-laws allow for up to eleven board members. We were previously at nine members and have unanimously voted to expand to eleven. With the election of Michael and Ryan we are at ten members. Our search to fill the eleventh seat is officially open. Please contact Michael Steinbruck with any nominations along with an updated resume.
