Ms. Jennings has over 20 years of experience supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Friends and colleagues describe Candace as witty, knowledgeable, and well-respected for her staunch advocacy. She was raised in near Galveston, TX and received a Bachelor of Social Work from Southwest Texas State University. While attending college in San Marcos, she began supporting people with developmental disabilities as a direct care specialist. She then gained professional experience in San Antonio as an Investigator for Child Protective Services and Service Coordinator/Manager at the Local IDD Authority. She most recently held the positions of Rights Protection Officer and Assistant Ombudsman at the San Antonio State Supported Living Center. In 2008, she earned a Master of Public Administration degree at University of Texas at San Antonio. Ms. Jennings currently serves the state as Deputy Independent Ombudsman for State Supported Living Centers. Leading with compassion and integrity, she sets the expectation that people receiving services should have positive control over their lives.
