Leigh Ann has worked with older adults, people with developmental and/or intellectual disability (IDD), people with physical disabilities and people with mental health needs for more than 30 years. She has worked at all levels of organizations including direct care, case management, senior and executive leadership. She was the founding Executive Director (ED) of a Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) provider organization serving people with dual diagnosis of IDD/MH and labels of challenging behavior. She has over 25 years’ experience leading person centered planning processes with people who use services, families, provider organizations and systems. She has particular interest and expertise in implementation of person centered practices in long term services and supports. She was also the founding director of the North Carolina Person-Centered Planning Initiative. She also has significant experience in facilitating stakeholder engagement processes (large listening sessions, focus groups, staff/employee interviews) along with extensive experience developing curricula and conducting multi-day training events with adult learners; in addition to providing technical assistance and consultation around person centered practices. Leigh Ann is a certified Mentor Trainer and Board member of The International Learning Community for Person Centered Practices. She has published widely on the topic of person centered practices in the context of aging and end of life and has developed and conducted numerous trainings on the subject of person centered practices and support at end of life.
