Biography
Emma Shepard, BS, MS Gerontology, has worked for the Office of Ombudsman for Long-Term Care for nearly four years. In her current role as a Self-Advocacy Specialist, she is working to educate and empower people receiving long term care services and support. She discovered her passion working in the field of aging at her first job working in her Grandmothers Assisted Living. She is dedicated in improving the quality of care, for all individuals receiving services in Long-Term Care settings. Her passion is working with individuals with dementia and memory loss. There is much work to be done within the culture of Long-Term Care to provide more person-centered holistic care.
She enjoys spending time with her family and two energetic daughters, living in Northern Minnesota, being in nature, camping, traveling, and connecting with other’s to continually learn and growing!
