Linda Irizarry

Linda Irizarry was born and raised in Queens, New York. She moved in 2007 from New York to Takoma Park, Maryland to finish her bachelor’s at Washington Adventist University (WAU). In 2010, Ms. Irizarry graduated from Washington Adventist University with her Bachelor of Science in Counseling Psychology. After graduating from WAU she went on to continue her studies at Howard University where she pursued a Master’s in Social Work. During her time in the Social Work program, she moved to the District of Columbia. Also, while at Howard she realized she had a passion to assist and advocate for individuals age 60 and older. Also, during her time at Howard, she was the Graduate Assistant for the Director of Gerontology Center. In this position, she collected data and conducted research. In 2012, she graduated with her master’s in social work, started working for District of Columbia Office on Aging (DCOA) now Department of Aging and Community Living (DACL) as a Public Health Analyst, and became a Licensed Graduate Social Worker. During her time at DACL, Ms. Irizarry obtained certifications in Person-Centered Thinking, Information and Referral/Assistance and became a Savvy Caregiver Master Trainer. She is now a Grants Management Specialist with the Office on Victim Services and Justice Grants. Her passion and professional interest have grown in Long-Term Care Services and Supports, Programming for Older Adults, support for Caregivers, and those who have been justice involved.
