aboutus

Trudy is a long-time advocate in disability issues, family support, and services. As the parent of a person with special needs for over 38 years, her daughter became her compass in advancing and driving her passions.

Recently retired from a 30-year career at Parents Helping Parents (PHP), Trudy is well known in the disability community through various executive and leadership positions; Trudy is now an enthusiastic and effective consultant trainer. She has supported and trained thousands of parents and professionals through Person Centered Thinking Training (PCT) and additional Person Centered and other related training. Trudy keeps her finger on the pulse of the needs of families and people who use disability services through her volunteer efforts at PHP as a Special Interest Group Facilitator for family members of adults using services and as a BFF Project volunteer.

Trudy was the Executive Director of Journey of Choice, a parent-directed supported living agency, for fourteen years. She educated other families interested in parent-directed services. Trudy founded The BFF Project, now a program offered at PHP. She is actively involved in The Learning Community as a Credentialed Person Centered Thinking (PCT) Trainer and utilizes the PCT tools in all aspects of her career and life.

She attended Santa Clara University and obtained her certificate in Early Childhood Intervention in 1994. Before that, she worked at  El Camino Hospital in a busy surgical unit and for 12 years in the emergency department.
