Biography

Ms. Jennings has over 25 years of experience supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. She found her passion supporting people as a direct care specialist while attending college in San Marcos, Texas. She earned a BSW from Southwest Texas State University School of Social Work.  Her professional experience includes serving the San Antonio community as a Child Protective Services investigator, Local Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Authority service coordinator and manager, and Rights Protection Officer at the San Antonio SSLC. After 12 years of serving as Deputy Independent Ombudsman for State Supported Living Centers, Ms. Jennings was appointed by the governor of Texas to lead the office in June 2021. Ms. Jennings has earned a Master of Public Administration degree and is currently pursuing a PhD in Applied Demography from University of Texas at San Antonio. She was certified as a Person-Centered Thinking trainer under the mentorship of the late Shelley Dumas in 2016 and continues to practice and sharpen PCT skills daily.
