Biography

Marion Curry retired as Director of Diversified Enterprises at the beginning of 2017.  She has a BA in Behavioral Psychology/Christianity from Mercer University and an MPA from Valdosta State University.   It has been her privilege to serve as director twice.  The first time from 1980-1992 ; returning in 2010 to 2016.  She learned her values from Marc Gold Ph.D and his ground breaking research with the Try Another Way approach to systematic instruction.  She led Diversified Enterprises through the process of moving from a facility-based organization to full community integration in 1983 and created supported employment in Georgia in 1983.   She began her career in 1972 in a traditional day program and developed a sheltered workshop in 1974.  She has also served as the executive director of a nonprofit drop-out prevention program, Communities in Schools; later working for the state organization.  It was during this time she honed her grant writing, fund raising and board development skills.  For the 8 years prior to her return to Diversified Enterprises she worked with Family Connection Partnership, a state-wide organization with a collaborative in every county that is focused on improving outcomes for children and families.  The thread that has connected her work is the recognition that it is through relationships and celebrating gifts and contributions that our communities flourish.  She is legacy certified through MG&A in Discovery and Systematic Instruction; she is also a certified Positive Behavior Supports trainer and Person Centered Thinking Trainer and mentor trainer.  In her retirement she has focused her efforts as a consultant to assist organizations and their staff to transform their work to focus on employment.  She believes that employment is the most assured method for people with IDD to be recognized as equals and to access the life they want to live.
