Over 40 years of experience in the field of Developmental Disabilities.

Particular areas of strength; Person Centered PracticeThinking and Behavior Supports

Began my employment in the DD field at an 84 person facility, Belmont Habilitation Center (BHC) in 1981, the beginning of de-institutionalization in Ohio. With the same completed start up of 3 10 person group home in 1983; becoming the QMRP for one of the homes; Recreational Therapist and QMRP for on the the 21 bed units at BHC.

Moved to Northwood Health Systems in Wheeling WV. . Completed the initial ICF Certification of the Russell Nesbitt Apartments, the second in the state to be certified. Completed development from the ground up for three ICFs to serve some of the last people to leave the Colin Anderson Institution in WVA. Two of the homes were set up to support individuals that were classified as Medically Fragile the other for people in need of significant behavioral supports.

My employment history included stints with the Belmont County Board of DD as SSA Director, Asst. Director for the Association of Developmental Disabilities, Medicaid Consulting Group where I provided support to County Boards of DD and served as the Service and Support Administration Director (SSA) of the Williams Co. Board of DD. Behavioral SpecialistConsultant for Russell Nesbitt Services, SSA Director for the Hocking County Board of DD, Asst Director for Care Giver Ohio and my current position of Director of Muskingum Residentials Inc. (MRI)

MRI consists of four homes licensed through the Ohio Department of DD. Since becoming Dir. of MRI the my focus and efforts have been changing the mind set of the Employees of MRI to Person Centered Thinking and Practices from the old mentality of a licensed home that basic standards to an Agency that incorporated PCP for the individuals supported and the Employees of MRI.

MRI’s Mission is “Working Toward a Brighter Towards a Brighter Future and our Vision is “To be the Provider and Employer of Choice.

Through the years I have provided training on a variety of topics. PCP and Behavior Supports are two of the main and best received topics that I have provided training.

My focus is to “provide practicaleffective, common sense solutions in what can be a complicated environment”.

There are no efforts or activities that when framed, trained and implemented have ever met with non compliance or failure because “Medicaid does not allow that”
