Biography

At an early age she grew a love for helping others. She grew up as a sister to someone with intellectual disabilities, requiring her to give her whole heart to help make the best life for her sibling. From this, Misty found comfort in working to help people with intellectual and cognitive disabilities. Misty started her career in this field in 1996 where she began her partnership with Iman Killebrew, her now co-owner. Misty assisted in opening Community Care Facilities that housed adolescents with forensic and behavioral issues as they were transitioned out of the State Hospital. During this time Misty inherited many important traits that allowed her to support, develop, and strengthen the lives and characteristics of the those she supported and staff that crossed her path. In 2004 Misty partnered with Iman Killebrew in which they co-founded AIMES Homes. Today they co-own and operate ten successful Community Care Facilities that cater to adolescents, adults, and elderly with intellectual disabilities. They have also successfully opened As One, a community mobile program that helps integrate those with disabilities into the community. During Misty’s two-and-a-half-decade journey she has served the disabled community as a Direct Care Staff, CCL Administrator, Behavior Consultant, KRC Vendor, a member of the Meet Your Neighbors campaign to integrate the community with the disabled population, a member of the KRC Golf Committee raising money for the All Star Café and Kern Assistive Technology, a member of Cognitive and Sensory Challenged Subcommittee for Emergency Preparedness in Kern County She has also attended multiple sessions at the State Capitol to lobby and fight for the rights and services of the disabled population, actively participated in Epilepsy Society fundraisers, actively participates in planning the Annual Get Aquatinted Vendor Luncheon, is a Person-Centered Thinking Trainer with The Learning Community, and Registered Behavioral Technician (RBT).
